Hello everyone, and welcome to the website! I am Eric Bland as you have probably noticed by the web address (URL) - Universal or Uniform Resource Locater. Here are some details of my personal background, and career within the search engine space...

I was born in Miami back in 76, 32 years goes by pretty quick. Miami has always been a place with a diverse population, making it an interesting place to grow up. After high school, I remained in Florida and attended Florida State University where I picked up degrees in MIS (Management & Information Systems) and Finance. After which, I returned to South Florida where I had been the majority of my life. While gathering some diverse experience in the corporate environment, I became licensed in the financial sector of commodities, annuities, life and health insurance.

During the time, I was researching the internet on topics of interest when I began studying the organization of the web itself. Primarily, the way in which search engines gather and store information. Google was the primary search engine leader (and still is), with Yahoo the only close contender. MSN launched their engine a few years later, bringing the dominant number to three. Once my skill set was sufficient, I began testing the engines with a few of my websites. After some time, I had become among the top ranked websites for terms I was testing, such as, "SEO" , "SEO Forum" , and various other terms related to search engine optimization. These terms relate to the process of ranking websites within search engines. Since my primary focus was research, I moved on with regard to competing in this space. Even though, I may still have some residual rankings.

However, having completed my research, I began working with many companies to help develop and/or improve their search engine marketing efforts. Under various titles and structures, the goals have remained pretty much the same. Differences usually vary in resources allocation, project scope, and overall support. After about six years of my return to South Florida, I relocated to Colorado, then to Las Vegas. Currently, I have returned to South Florida to live.

My career within the search engine technology field has been an interesting so far. I have been around from the relative beginnings of the industry, and have seen the many changes take place. Not only in the industry itself, but the way in which corporations have changed the structuring, formalizations, and positions regarding search engine management. While my own personal projects have often taken a backseat, I am currently working on a few things while considering employment opportunities.
